WOH MERI KAABA THI
Main Qibla Se Fisal Gaya | A Sufi Reflection on Mother, Qibla & Regret
A contemporary Sufi reflection presented by SufiPulse USA.
Woh Meri Kaaba Thi begins as a confession.
A son looks back at the woman who carried him, fed him, prayed for him, endured for him — and realizes that while he learned how to face sacred directions, he failed to recognize the sacred responsibility inside his own home.
“Woh meri Kaaba thi — main Qibla se fisal gaya.”
The line is not theology.
It is regret.
The mother becomes the poem’s language for mercy, sacrifice, and the place to which the heart should have returned.

◆ WHY THIS WORK
The song is built around a painful contradiction.
A person may perform worship, repeat sacred words, visit sacred places, and still neglect the mother whose care made that life possible.
The composition places ritual beside responsibility.
What is outward devotion worth if gratitude fails at home?
The grief is not only that the mother is gone.
It is that understanding arrived after absence.

◆ EDITORIAL NOTE
“Kaaba,” “Qibla,” “Safa,” “Marwah,” “Arafah,” “Madina,” “Qur’an,” “Imam,” and similar sacred images are used poetically to describe maternal love, orientation, nurture, and moral memory.
They are not literal equivalences.
The Kaaba remains the Kaaba.
The Qibla remains the direction of prayer.
The Qur’an remains the revealed Book of Allah.
Prophethood belongs only to those whom Allah made prophets.
The metaphors express remorse, not a replacement of Islamic belief.

◆ WRITER’S NOTE
Some lines intentionally push devotional metaphor to its limit.
“Woh meri pehli Nabi thi,” “uski khamoshi Hadees thi,” “woh meri Qur’an thi,” or “woh meri Imam thi” should not be read literally.
A mother is not a prophet, revelation, scripture, qibla, or object of worship.
Likewise, “Arsh kaanp utha,” angels weeping, or sacred places rejecting the neglectful child are poetic images of conscience and accountability, not claims of witnessed unseen events.
The heart of the work is simpler:
honor your mother while she can still hear you.

◆ CREATOR & SPIRITUAL CONTEXT
The composition also draws from the remembered example of Uways al-Qarani (RA) and his devotion to his mother.
Here, that memory becomes a question:
Do not wait for the grave to understand the value of the person who carried you.
The mother in this work is not worshipped.
She is finally recognized.
Too late.
