MIRROR OF HAZRATBAL, WOUND OF DAL Hazratbal Still Shines, But Dal Lake Bleeds | A Kashmiri Scientist in Exile Weeps for Dal Lake An original contemporary Sufi environmental reflection by Dr. Zarf-e-Noori, presented by SufiPulse USA. Mirror of Hazratbal, Wound of Dal begins with a reflection. Hazratbal still stands in light. Dal Lake carries the wound. The song places sacred memory beside ecological decline and asks what it means to revere a place spiritually while allowing the waters beside it to deteriorate. “The Dal. The Dal. The lake of name.” The lake becomes mirror, memory, and warning. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ◆ WHY THIS WORK Dal Lake is not only an image of Kashmir. It is a living ecological system shaped by hydrology, settlement, waste, nutrient loading, land-use pressure, and decades of intervention. For the writer, it is also personal. A lake once studied through environmental science and remote sensing now returns through exile as grief. The distance sharpens the question: What did we preserve in memory that we failed to protect in reality? ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ◆ EDITORIAL NOTE The composition places Hazratbal and Dal Lake beside one another as spiritual and ecological symbols. Hazratbal is not blamed for the lake’s condition, nor is religious devotion presented as an environmental management strategy. A sacred landscape can remain revered while the ecosystem surrounding it continues to suffer. Faith does not replace restoration. It can deepen responsibility toward it. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ◆ WRITER’S NOTE “Dal Lake bleeds,” “the lake speaks,” and similar expressions are poetic personification. They do not mean the lake literally suffers as a human being. The writer’s grief as a Kashmiri environmental scientist in exile is personal testimony, not a substitute for water-quality data, ecological monitoring, or institutional assessment. Spiritual language carries the lament. Science must still measure the wound. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ◆ RELEASE RECORD Title: Mirror of Hazratbal, Wound of Dal English Context: Hazratbal Still Shines, But Dal Lake Bleeds Form: Original Contemporary Sufi Environmental Anthem / Reflection Writer • Lyricist • Composer • Creative Direction: Dr. Zarf-e-Noori Presented by: SufiPulse USA Production: SufiPulse Studio USA Language: English / Urdu-Hindustani context Cultural Context: Hazratbal • Dal Lake • Kashmir Themes: Dal Lake • Hazratbal • Water • Ecology • Exile • Memory • Restoration ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ◆ OFFICIAL CREDITS Writing, Concept, Composition & Creative Direction: Dr. Zarf-e-Noori Presented by: SufiPulse USA Production: SufiPulse Studio USA Recorded at: Dr. Kumar Foundation – SufiPulse Studio USA ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ◆ LYRICS • LANGUAGES • COMMENTARY Official lyrics, translations, commentary, thematic interpretation, and environmental context are maintained through the SufiPulse USA release archive.
